Powder Bathroom Makeover

I joined in on the One Room Challenge last spring 2016 and chose our powder room for a little makeover. Half of our house was being repaired/remodeled anyway and this powder room needed a little updating so we threw this room onto the punch list too.

However, I wasn't able to complete the room in the 6 week time frame of the challenge due to other things going around the house and yada yada yada, it didn't get done in time for the full reveal.

Here is what it looked like prior to the makeover.

Bad iphone photo, sorry.
It was painted a light brown with oak cabinet. It was very basic, and very brown.

Though I do have a fondness for some dark rooms, this one wasn't cutting it, plus the cabinet was very large and dated.

Here was my inspiration ideas.

Here's the After...

It's very challenging to get a photo of this room but hopefully you can get the idea. We added beadboard vertically around the walls, painted them Farrow & Ball's All White, added a pedestal sink and I kept the same mirror and lights.

I love how bright the room is now. Before it felt almost dungeon like. I added the checkered towels and the blue and white stripe tray is from Fog Linen.  I also like to keep a basket full of toilet paper handy in case a roll runs out.

Really this room has everything I love... blue and white, buffalo check, stripes, texture, nautical elements and white!

Hope you enjoyed this little makeover.

  1. So bright and fresh! I love the slightly rustic touches like the poster and hand towel, great choice of textures.
